Cleanliness workshop for students

IN TANDEM WITH THE SWACHH BHARAT: SWACHH VIDYALAYA (SBSV), OR “CLEAN INDIA: CLEAN SCHOOLS” MISSION, LAUNCHED IN OCTOBER 2014  Cleaning & Hygiene Workshop for Students  27th September, 2019  Key points:  Clean Drinking Water: Daily provision of child friendly and sustainable safe drinking water and adequate water for hand washing. In addition, water for school cleaning. Safe handling and  storage of drinking water should be practiced throughout the school. Hand washing with soap before having meals: Handwashing before meals can reduce diarrhea by 30% and incidents ofrespiratory infections by 16%. Sanitation: Separate clean toilets for boys and girls. Menstrual hygiene management facilities including soap, adequate and private space for changing and disposal facilities for menstrual waste. Operation and maintenance: All floor areas, classrooms and student desks should be clean. There should be adequate measures for the disposing of the waste in a segregated manner, which helps in recycling. All water, sanitation and hand washing facilities need to be clean and functional and well maintained. Regular supply of cleaning materials, consumables like soap, disinfectants, mops, brooms, buckets etc. should be maintained.  Enhancements: Initiative should be taken to enhance the cleaning and hygiene and its operation and maintenance. Example – St. Peter’s Senior Secondary School has modernized its set of cleaning and mopping tools. Instead of old brooms sticks and bathing buckets being used for wet mops, the school has standing dry  mops, wet mops with wringer trolleys, jobby dustpans and colour coded waste bins for the segregation of its waste. Along with being easier to operate, these enhancements go a long way in improving the overall cleanliness and hygiene of the school.  ...
