Visit to Institute for the blind

October 16th, 2019 by
A group of students from Classes VI to X of our school visited the Institute for the Blind, Sector 26, Chandigarh accompanied by 3 teachers. It was a noble learning experience for our students who interacted with the students of the Institute and in the process, understood the challenges that students of the same age as them had to face because of their disability. But in no time they realized that while the students may be deprived of sight, they had a much stronger insight into life and its many facets. The students of the institute shared many experiences with our students about how world seems to them, describing routine tasks, academics and extracurricular activities. Our students helped them in completing their Creative and Critical Thinking Practical Exam by narrating multiple choice questions to them and helping them in marking their responses in OMR sheets. ‘Children of the Jungle’ and ‘Akela’

December 22nd, 2018 by
St. Peters’s School and The Engine Room have set the standard for school theatre - a high benchmark - this evening at the Tagore Theatre Chandigarh with their fantastic musical adaptations of The Jungle Book. The production for the Kindergarten and Junior wing was titled, 'Children of the Jungle' while the one for the middle ans senior wings was titled, 'Akela'. The performance featured a total cast of 432 children from the school as well as impressive costumes and uniquely created neon sets that wouldn’t look amiss on The West End. The imaginative choreography told the classic story in a totally new style - bringing beloved characters from Mowgli to Sherkhan to life in a completely new way. The children really gave it their all with fanstastic energy and enthusiasm from every animal in the jungle! Congratulations to the school, cast and crew - we can’t wait to see the next production. Art & Culture

December 22nd, 2018 by
It has been our endeavour to involve each and every kid of our school in the Arts & Theatre, therefore have two individual productions for the Junior School and Senior School. 'Akela' has been produced by the Chandigarh based dance company The Engine Room and associates alongside the team at St Peter’s School, Chandigarh. For their latest project, they have adapted Rudyard Kipling’s beloved The Jungle Book, bringing the forest to life in this exciting & fascinating production. Puneet Jewandah and Kritika Sharma, directors of the Engine room, who first conceived the idea were joined in by the now London based choreographer Akshay Sharma to materialise the vision. Akshay Sharma trained at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance in the UK and went on to work with different dance companies in England, sharing as much of this experience with the students as possible - alongside Bombay based acting coach Devyani Mehra. A first ...
